What to Do in Portland?

One of the questions our guest services team is often asked is what to do in Portland during a guest's stay. Our answer? A lot. And all year long. There's no time like the present to explore Stump Town, from our famed parks and bridges to the zoo.

A couple ideas to get you started?

How about the Monsters of the Abyss exhibit at OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science and Industry) where you'll take a deep dive (pun intended) into the undersea world of aquatic predators stretching back millions of years. The tour promises you'll meet "massive mosasaurs, a spine-chilling Spinosaurus, and bizarre creatures!" The exhibit also features fossils, educational programming, and some live animals. Prices start at just $20 and days vary so check out the website for TICKETSWEBSITE.

No trip to Portland would be complete without a trip to Washington Park and specifically the Portland Japanese Garden. This 12-acre garden is located in the scenic West Hills above downtown and has an array of garden styles, a tea house, meandering streams, peaceful walkways and views of Mount Hood. In addition to taking in the sites on your own, there is a running calendar of events and exhibits

Visiting during December? Get ready to be wowed. Youo'll be treated to light displays, festive train rides, and holiday shopping. We go ape for the ZooLights (which runs this year from Nov.21 to Jan.4) in addition to all the PDX pop-up shops.

To find even more events check out an events calendar including Things to Do in Portland Today and Things to Do in Portland This Weekend.
