Insider Tips

  • Fall in Portland

As the weather cools and the leaves change, it's time put on your boots and venture out of downtown on a fall day excursion!

Here are a few of our favorites -

  • pumpin-patch suavie island

Sauvie Island - 13 miles north

During this time of year the island's farms move from summer berry picking splendor to autumn pumpkin and harvest delight! Get lost in one of the farms corn mazes, climb hay pyramids, say hello to farm animals, go on a hay ride and eat a caramel apple - whew.

That's pure fall day fun!

Hood River County Fruit Loop - 65 miles east

Meander your way through a self-guided tour of the Fruit Loop's stands, farms, orchards and towns along a scenic 35-mile loop in the Hood River Valley with Mt. Hood as your backdrop.

Sample delicious fruit, visit a winery, smell fields of fragrant lavender, meet adorable alpacas, savor delicious baked goods, all an hour from Portland!

  • Wine Country Thanksgiving

Wine Country Thanksgiving  - 25 miles southwest

Held each year on the three days following Thanksgiving, more than 150 wineries open their doors to the public, offering samples of favorite labels and special vintages.

The holiday weekend festivities include live music, food and wine pairings, and the opportunity to visit with winemakers at some of Oregon’s top wineries — including many not usually open to the public.

Mt Hood National Forest - 62 miles east

There are roughly 1000 miles of trail on the Mt. Hood National Forest available for hiking, making it hard to choose.

No fear, whichever trail you take you are bound to find breathtaking and serene scenes like no others.
